Old Meads Mid-Season Report

New Chairman urges members to enjoy rest of the season

Old Meadonians’ Derek Barnett was able to issue an up beat mid-season report, his first as newly installed Chairman.

The first team have been league champions every year for the past five and have been inclined to carry the honour of the club on their broad and capable backs.

It is therefore gratifying to see trickle-down effect bringing success to those teams below them. Of the ten sides Meads now run in the league, no fewer than seven are in the top four of their divisions challenging for honours.

Meads also run eleven cup sides and are still engaged in twelve cup competitions and, not to neglect the juniors, the under sevens are enjoying a successful first season.

Seven members of the first team squad have represented the Amateur Football Combination this season and five the Amateur Football Alliance.

The social side of the club is buzzing: After match hospitality at the Riverside Club sees up to seventy hot meals provided, free for visitors. The Chairman further extolled members to go out and enjoy the rest of the season.
