Mead's hit form in pre-season tournament

In the preseason Greenland Cup Old Meadonians drew first blood in the renewal of what has become an annual battle against old rivals U.C.L., coasting to an easy win.
The lackadaisical visitors, despite lining up with eight of their squad on show to Meads’ five, had nowhere near the organisation necessary to offer more than a token challenge.
Meads chose to give trials to four new signings all of whom showed themselves to be capable of hotting up competition for places in the first team squad. Added to this Albert Adomah whose goal scoring efforts last season won him the golden boot and two appearances on the first team bench last season was given a start wide on the left and moved forward for the last twenty minutes where he conjured a brilliant chance in the last ten minutes.
It was a sucker punch delivered by old hands skipper Jack Costello and striker Ed Glover which opened the scoring after ten minutes as Costello’s long throw put Glover in to lob the keeper from close in. Shortly after this Adomah, used mainly in a defensive mid-field roll burst through on the right to shave the far post.
Early in the second half the visitors briefly barred their teeth bringing out an excellent reflex save and then a brilliant tip onto the bar from second team keeper Dave Needham. Ten minutes into the second half an exchange of passes between Adomah and Costello on the left saw Costello hit the near post with the keeper stranded and then Adomah combined with striker Colin Hawkins to leave Hawkins with a tap in.
With ten minutes to go Adomah cut in from the right only to see his shot blocked for a corner which was stabbed in by a defender for the third.
Good debuts were recorded by Jimmy Zang, Sam O’Neil, Alastair McCombe and Nathan Mottley.
