Albert Adomah is back at Meads

Old Meadonians FC are delighted that former player Albert Adomah is back as an official ambassador and 1st team sponsor

August 18, 2023

Albert played for Old Meadonians as a teenager starting in the 9th team before rapidly making his way up to the 1sts. He helped the side go through the 2005/6 season unbeaten in open play. After playing for Meads, Albert began his career playing semi-professional football with Harrow Borough. He then went to Bristol City before heading to Middlesbrough where he won the Championship playoff final, something he repeated with Aston Villa in 2019. He’s currently playing for QPR and last season broke the appearance record in the Championship and now has 511 appearances and counting.

He also played for Ghana, featuring at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and in 2014 at the Fifa World Cup!

Aside from a glittering career going from grass roots football all the way to a World Cup Albert has a passion and desire to give back to the footballing community. We caught up with Albert to ask him a few questions about his initiative and he recalled how he developed his skills before he became a professional.

“Parks football, cage football, amateur, Sunday football – you name it, I played it. I really just want to do something to get youngsters involved, just give them an opportunity really. Players do get missed. QPR were my team growing up and I used to play on the cage pitches right next to Loftus Road.”

His sponsorship of the 1st team at Old Meadonians is to promote and grow Uncs37 #skillsforfun

“All my teammates call me Uncs, short for Uncle Albert. My current shirt number is 37 and both combined makes Uncs37. My slogan #skillsforfun, which I use on my social media platforms is where I do skills and challenges for the young/old generation to take part. I give away prizes like football boots, shirts, it’s all free and just encourages people to have a go”

“It’s a great honour to give something back to the team where it all began. Old Meadonians gave me a platform to start my career for which I am ever grateful. I am honoured and proud to be the 1st team shirt sponsor and grateful to have an ambassador role at the club”

Albert is active on both Instagram and X (formally Twitter) under the handle @uncs37
