Hockey result : Chiswick 4 Staines 1
PHC Chiswick entertained local rivals Staines on Saturday in a top of the table clash and started nervously before Chiswick started to dominate possession and eventually took the lead after making three substitutions and bringing on fresh legs with Dan Hall finishing off a well worked move in the 20th minute. Ashley Holman scored just before the half time break to extend Chiswick’s well deserved lead after having much of the possession and putting the Staines defence under a lot of pressure.
Chiswick again started the second half nervously and had to work hard as a team to break down a resilient Staines team who held possession for long periods without creating any goal scoring opportunities before a 2nd Ashley Holman goal gave Chiswick some breathing space. Staines then started to dominate possession as Chiswick struggled to get hold of the ball and had a 15 minute spell where they had to work hard as a team to withstand a strong Staines attack. Eventually the pressure told and Staines pulled a goal back before Chiswick finally scored a 4th breakaway goal in the 65 minute when Nayan Maken kept up his excellent scoring record by converting a left wing cross to make the points safe.
This was a great team effort and another good result for PHC Chiswick who have started the season with three wins out of three but entertain Sonning in a tough away game this Saturday.
