Football sessions for women aged between 19 and 81 begin later this month in Chiswick.

Chiswick and Kew Swans FC will be holding the first session at 7.30pm on Monday 26 February at the Quintin Hogg Memorial Grounds (W4 3LT).

This follows on from a similar initiative in Twickenham where now over 50 women are playing every week.

The sessions aim to offer women of all ages and abilities the chance to learn or return to football and keep fit as well as meet new friends. No experience necessary and there is no age limit.

A spokesperson for the club said, : "Although the growth of female football continues to accelerate, most females over the age of 25 never had the same chances to play and participate as are available today. Therefore, the aim of the Swans football programme is to provide an opportunity for this age group to play and help reduce the risk of this group becoming a lost generation."
