The club has five men's teams playing in Saturday leagues
October 24, 2026
Chiswick Cricket Club can look back on 2026 as a season to be proud of after one of the longest, hottest and driest summers Riverside Drive has seen in years. The club made full use of the sunshine, both on the pitch and around the pavilion, where the Duck & Ball kept players and supporters well supplied with pizza and drinks. With five Saturday league sides, Sunday friendlies, a women’s team and a rapidly expanding junior section, the club enjoyed a year of steady progress.
The 1st XI delivered another strong campaign, finishing third in the league for the third time in four years. Much of their success was driven by New Zealander Tom Flavell, whose 949 league and T20 runs included some of the most memorable innings in the club’s history. His extraordinary 164 off 93 balls, featuring 22 fours and eight sixes, was the kind of performance spectators would happily have paid to watch.
The 2nd XI and 3rd XI both secured their league status on the final day of the season, providing the kind of drama only survival cricket can produce. The 4th XI and 5th XI each finished fifth in their respective leagues, rounding out a solid set of results across the senior sides. With home and away friendlies every Sunday, no one at Chiswick CC ever needs to miss a game.
Several players reached notable milestones. Glayson Baptiste became the club’s all-time leading run scorer, passing 7,600 career runs since online records began. Alongside Tom Flavell’s remarkable season, sixteen-year-old Miles Dyson passed 1,000 runs, while his brother Dusty took 40 wickets. In total, fourteen players scored centuries, helped by the consistently dry conditions that favoured batters throughout the summer.

The junior section continues to flourish, with teams from U9 to U15 and an MDL side combining U21 players with adult cricketers in one of west London’s highest-level leagues. Friday evenings have become a highlight, with around 120 children taking part in All Stars and Dynamos sessions while parents enjoy a drink in the sunshine. Sunday mornings bring coffee, croissants and club training. Even with some weather disruption, the development of young players has been clear, not least through the eight juniors who progressed into men’s cricket this year.
For the first time, juniors will train together before Christmas as part of an expanded winter programme. The coaching team now includes James Harris, formerly of Berkshire age-group cricket, and Oli Bradbury, joining Level 3 coach Karl Sylvester to provide high-level training through winter, spring and into next summer.
The women’s team completed its first season in the Surrey leagues, playing ten matches and winning four, laying strong foundations for future growth.
Off the field, the club celebrated the opening of the £100,000 redevelopment of the cricket square at Chiswick House and Grounds, where the 5th and 6th XIs play. The improved surface has already delivered higher-quality cricket and significantly increased scoring. The nets are open to all, with booking available online.
With around 150 senior players and more than 200 juniors, Chiswick Cricket Club is busier than ever and always keen to welcome new faces. Anyone interested in playing, coaching, umpiring or helping out behind the scenes is encouraged to get in touch at chiswickcc@yahoo.com.
The club’s sponsors include local estate agent Whitmans.
