Art Imitates Appetite At Sam's

Winners of children's art competition gather to hang huge canvas

Sam's Bar & Brasserie and canvas-printing company DaisyArt are celebrating the results of their recent art competition which asked children to paint their favourite foods.

A panel of judges, which included Sir Peter Blake, Rebecca Mileham, owner of DaisyArt, and Rufus Wickham, Head Chef and father of two boys.

A huge canvas print, showing all the winning paintings including a portrait of Sam himself, was unveiled this week before it was put on display in the restaurant alongside work from acclaimed artist Sir Peter Blake.

The canvas measuring 160 x 60 cm shows a montage of the winning paintings. Favourite foods include fish, sausages, broccoli, carrots, pizza and a sumptuous ice-cream sundae.

Sam said “I am so pleased that we were able to put all these great entries onto one wonderful canvas. It is a wonderful insight into how children’s minds work and I particularly thrilled with the painting of me and the blue eyes I wish I had! Thank you to everyone who entered.”
