Adios La Tasca

Closing of Spanish Tapas bar fuels Sainsbury's development rumours

La Tasca's Chiswick Branch has closed down, it has been revealed. The restaurant, which has been open since 2007, shut its doors earlier this month and becomes yet another establishment on the stretch of road between Essex Place and Acton Lane to close recently.

This fuels the rumours of a planned redevelopment by architectural firm TateHindle, described previously on their website as "a unique opportunity to reinvigorate the west end of Chiswick High Road," which would see Sainsbury's moving from its current location to have its main entrance on Chiswick High Road, freeing up space where the previous site was to make way for a mixed use development comprised of apartments, retail and commercial premises.

La Tasca released a statement to ChiswickW4.com saying that "Unfortunately it was not economically viable for us to continue trading in Chiswick. We'd like to thank our customers for their support and loyalty over the years. The nearest La Tasca restaurant can be found in Kingston or central London -St Martins Lane, Covent Garden, Victoria or James Street."
