FishWorks chooses Chiswick for first London restaurant

Fishy business on Turnham Green Terrace

For all those locals who have been salivating at the window of FishWorks on Turnham Green Terrace, the waiting is over! The group opened its fourth restaurant recently under the direction of TV Chef and author, Mitchell Tonks and his business partner, Roy Morris. Mitchell Tonks has presented his own TV series called “Fish Food” on Carlton Food Network, and has appeared on various TV programmes including GMTV.

He will be taking a hands on approach looking after his team of chefs, and working on the fishmonger’s counter, offering advice and inspiration to customers. The restaurant seats 50 with a further 22 seats available to diners in the garden (which is covered and heated when necessary).

FishWorks restaurants in Bath, Bristol, Christchurch and now Chiswick focus simply on the quality and range of the fresh seafood – up to 50 different varieties – which customers can choose straight from the fishmonger’s counter.

Mitchell Tonks said “Our restaurants offer diners a simple yet stylish, very relaxing environment with a great atmosphere. To me, we’re basically one fantastic fishmongers – with added tables!” He went on to explain how he discovered the site in Chiswick “I am so excited about opening in Chiswick – we’ve been looking for the perfect site for our first London restaurant for so long – and I’m delighted that we’ve found this brilliant spot just down the road from Turnham Green tube.

“I just happened to be having lunch in Palatino’s – the restaurant that was here prior to us - and I was very instantly struck by what a lovely space it was. So I made a casual comment to the owner, admiring it and saying that if they were ever thinking of moving on, we’d definitely be interested….and, well - the rest is history!”

FishWorks has high hopes for the Chiswick restaurant, as the original Bath FishWorks gained the Good Food Guide’s “Best Fish Restaurant” award in 2000, and all three venues have independently won a place in the latest Good Food Guide.

The Chiswick restaurant will offer customers a simply-styled and relaxed environment centred around the busy fishmarket, with a garden – which is covered and heated – so you can dine al fresco whenever you feel like it, whatever the time of year.

The fishmongers at FishWorks is staffed by chefs happy to share their knowledge and advice and, as with the other restaurants, FishWorks Chiswick will also host informative, yet informal and fun seafood cookery courses on Mondays, when the restaurant is closed.
