Thieves Target Chisou in Chiswick

Japanese restaurant has lead stripped from roof overnight

The Japanese restaurant Chisou has warned business people in Chiswick to be vigilant, following the theft of a large amount of lead from its roof.

The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday (September 26) when thieves gained access to the roof using a ladder, which they later abandoned on the street.

David De La Torre, operations manager of Chisou said: “ It’s quite shocking really. I left the premises at midnight on Tuesday night, and sometime between then and 10 o clock the following morning when my staff arrived, over 30 metres of lead had been stripped from the roof.

“ I’d like to alert other local businesses, as who knows, this may happen again in Chiswick.”

He said he believed the thieves had gained access from a side alley which was badly lit. The management are now looking closely at CCTV camera footage to see if it can help with the investigation.

Mr. De la Torre said he had reported it to the police but had been told it could take three days for them to carry out an investigation at the premises.

“ If anyone has seen anything suspicious in the area, it would be very helpful if they could report it“, he added.
