The Pilot Reopens After Major Refurbishment

Exterior, interior, function room and even the garden have all benefited from a sympathetic transformation

The Pilot, in Chiswick, recently closed for 11 days for a major transformational refurbishment re-opening on Wednesday 4th May.

The refurbishment of the exterior, interior, garden and function room have been sympathetically transformed to provide stylish, comfortable surroundings whether for relaxing in the south facing garden at weekends, meeting friends for dinner in the pub, or booking the separate Garden Room for a party or dinner.

Inspiration for the design came from the pub’s history; pilot boats have always guided ships on the Thames and carried passengers from the ships to the river banks. However, when the tide was out, horses were used to ferry passengers from the ships to the shore. It was at the Pilot that some of these horses were once stabled.

Gone is the sparse bare wood and loud interior, replaced with soft furnishings and new lighting. Through out the pub you will see nods to it’s past, from sails on the ceiling in the Garden Room, pictures of horses and scenes of the Thames on the walls to the specially commission mural of a pilot boat on the Thames near Kew Bridge.

The new menu offers great pub classics freshly prepared together with a few more adventurous options. Bar snacks of crisps, pork scratchings, scotch eggs and bread are all cooked or baked on the premises. Three cask ales from Fuller’s are always available together with a range of continental lagers and an extensive well considered wine list featuring wines from around the world. We’ve also added a children’s menu to make sure they feel as welcome as their parents.

Regular events include a re-launched pub quiz on Sunday evenings and every second Monday of the month sees comedy night in the Garden Room.

The team that so many have complimented have been retained headed by General Manager Lucy Bowerman so you can be sure of a friendly welcome when you next visit. They are so proud of the improvements, they will be delighted to show you round when you are next in.
