A restaurant on Chiswick High Road was a winner at a gala event with 900 guests held in Mayfair this Monday (23 September).

Silver Birch was named as London’s restaurant of the year in the AA Hospitality Awards hosted by Angellica Bell.

There has been an increasing buzz about the venue, which opened at number 142 four years ago, since new head chef Nathan Cornwall took over in 2023.

He previously worked at Kitchen W8, Copenhagen’s Geranium (3 Michelin Stars), Stockholm’s Kadeau and Oaxen Krog (2 Michelin Stars respectively), 2 Michelin-starred Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham, and most recently, four years at The Barn at Moor Hall in Lancashire

The Silver Birch recently gained a positive mention in the Michelin Guide in an interview with Endo Kazutoshi, the chef at the Rotunda in Television Centre.

Its mission is to showcase the best of British food and it is gaining an increasingly large local following.

Nathan said afterwards, “Winning this award is an incredible honour for me and the entire team at The Silver Birch. It’s a testament to our hard work, dedication, and passion for creating exceptional dining experiences.

“This recognition inspires us to continue pushing the boundaries of contemporary British cuisine and to keep delighting our guests with innovative and sustainably sourced dishes. We’re deeply grateful for the support of our wonderful guests.”

The coveted AA Chefs’ Chef of the Year title went to Tom Aikens for his work at Muse in Belgravia.
