The Queens Head pub on Sutton Lane North is planning to reopen this Thursday (22 August) after being closed since May.

It has been taken over by new management in the shape of Paul and Seda Durham.

Paul Durham told us, “We will run the pub as a family friendly place where everyone can relax. We will be food lead and also well-behaved dogs are welcome.”

There will be free canapes and prosecco on offer from 5pm to anyone popping in on the day of the relaunch.

There appears to be little change to the interior and exterior of the pub which was managed by Aneta Barratt previously. Some regulars were unhappy at her sudden departure, but it is unclear how they will react to the reopening.

Records suggest there has been a pub on the site since 1722 and it was first known as the Queen’s Head in 1856 although it has several name changes since then, reverting to the Queen’s Head name in 2018. The previous management had attracted a loyal local following some of whom had been regulars at other pubs in the vicinity which have closed down in recent years.

The pub has an attractive garden at the rear which has been a popular spot during the summer months.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
