La Toscana Adds to Chiswick's Little Italy Bid

Another restaurant serving Italian food opens in W4

La Toscana Chiswick

Chiswick's apparent bid to become the Little Italy of London continues with another Italian restaurant opening in W4. There are now twelve restaurants in the area specialising in food from that country.

La Toscana is taking over the site at 26 Chiswick High Road that was briefly occupied by Villa Etrusca and before that Caffe Piccolo.

Slightly confusing the restaurant says that under the direction of their head chefs they will combine traditional Napoli recipes with new age Italian ones. No mention is made of any Tuscan cuisine.

They say in Italian their culinary style is called alla Casalinga which means home-style cookery or "like mamma used to make."

Pasta dishes are available from around £11-£13 and pizzas are generally under £10.

The latest opening follows on the heels of Giusi taking over the Canta Napoli premises on Devonshire Road and The Italians deli opening on Chiswick High Road this year. There are now six specialist Italian restaurants and six pizzerias in W4.
