Megan's at the Flower Market

Ad - A stylish, independently owned Mediterranean restaurant

Sunday evenings are a good time to go out locally and have a casual, relaxed but delicious meal. And passing Megan's at the Flower Market most days and noticing it is alwasy busy, it seemed the perfect destination.

Megans has several branches in the Southeast of England and the Chiswick branch is one of the luckiest ones in having a huge outdoor area. The patio is used year round thanks to the huge umbrella covering it (Jeremy Clarkson take note) and is always busy from coffee time in the morning until cocktail time in the evening with lots of the guests taking advantage of the dog-friendly policy.

Inside the restaurant, it is has Mediterranean themed interiors and menus with blue tiled walls, hanging lights, lots of macrame & sparkly fairy lights. Megan's specialises in kebabs with open kebabs, shish kebabs and shakshouka kebabs on offer.

We started with the sharing platter as that gave us a chance to sample lots of diffierent dishes. The hot honey halloumi was the winner with the spinach and feta parcel a close second. There was also hummus, labneh, padron peppers, pickles and fluffy flatbread and pita chips to scoop them all up. This was a real winner of a dish and a very generous portion.

Next I had the chilli chicken shakshouka kebab consisting of grilled thighs in a slow cooked tomato sauce with piri piri and garlic yoghurt accompanied with another hot, fluffy flatbread. The chicken had just the right amount of piquancy and the thighs were tender and juicy. The other main course was the open posh lamb doner with overnight braised lamb shoulder, feta and pistachios. This came served on another flatbread meaning the delicious juices soaked into the bread and was accompanied with slaw, pickles and harissa hummus. As a side, we had a Greek salad with tomatoes, cucumber, red onion. Kalamata olives and a wonderful great chunk of feta cheese.

Our waitress Katya was that perfect combination of solicitousness and efficiency and was ably assisted by Elena. And Katya is totally to blame for us trying the half-baked cookie dough sharing dessert. This was a whopper of a dessert consisting of a hot dish of warm, gooey cookie dough with nutella, pistachios and two scoops of ice cream. Absolutely divine and well worth leaving room for. You were right Katya!

We had glasses of Gavi to start with and then a Rioja. The bartender was busy shaking up cocktails all evening and next time we will probably sample the passion fruit martini and the negroni. There are a selection of nibbles available to go with drinks including dips and bread, a Turkish cheese fondue and those very more-ish hot honey Halloumi fries.

The restaurant was full despite it being evening of the Euro 2025 match. The roars from some of the nearby pubs made it possible to keep up with the score and the Lionesses win was the perfect end to a really delightful evening.

Megans is open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and supper and is currently offering a special Neighbour Nights menu on Sundays - Wednesdays with two courses for £18 and three courses for £21 and bottles of house wine for only £22 from 5pm onwards.
