Members of W4 Youth were at this month’s flower market in Chiswick to tell people about their plans of the future.

They are hoping to build a new Youth and Community centre, that not only provides a permanent home for their group but also serves the wider community.

Plans have already been drawn up for a multi-purpose hall, changing rooms, nursery and kitchen facilities on a site on Southfield Recreation Ground and fundraising for the scheme was started.

The design will take into consideration it surroundings from its material choices to layout and will look to minimise impact on the neighbouring buildings whilst maximising its position within the park.

W4 Youth took a stall at the market to tell people about their plans which have been drawn up in partnership with Ealing Council. The W4 Youth dance group also entertained the shoppers and Aliché, a founder W4 Youth member, sang a number of songs to the crowd.

Sally Chacatté, W4 Youth Founder and Chair, said, “We were delighted to be invited along to the Chiswick Flower Market to share the news that we will have a temporary home in Southfield Recreation Ground from February 2023 and share the plans for our new youth & community building for which we’ve recently started raising money. We will be at a number of community events over the coming weeks and months including the Chiswick Cheese Market, a Padel Tennis tournament at Rocks Lane and an official opening of our temporary home. We’ll be partnering with Brentford FC to provide football and youth provision once our temporary home is in place.”

It was set up by Founder and Chair Sally Chacatté in 2010. Since then, W4 Youth has organised clubs for teenagers run in Ealing and Hounslow such as football, art and dance.
