Both local councils will collect real trees for recycling
Hounslow Council says that real Christmas trees will be collected for recycling during January 2016.
You need to place your Christmas tree out for collection on your normal garden waste collection day (this can be found through the collection day finder). Only real Christmas trees will be collected, all decorations, pots and stands need to be removed before they are placed out for collection.
Residents living in flats can also arrange to have their real Christmas tree to be collected.
Contact them to arrange a collection, by emailing recycling@hounslow.gov.uk or by calling 020 8583 2000.
You'll be given a collection day based on the garden waste collections in the areas nearest to you. You will need to let them know where the tree will be left for collection, for example, next to a bin store. Please note: trees should be placed out for 7am on the collection day.
If you live in Ealing borough a free collection service will be provided from 4 - 29 January. Trees will be collected on the same day as the refuse and recycling collection day. Tree trunks must not exceed 20cm in diameter and any trees taller than 6ft will need to be cut in two.
Alternatively, residents can recycle real Christmas trees at some of Ealing borough’s parks and open spaces in January and February including Southfield Park and Acton Green Common.
