Charity Calendar Celebrates Chiswick

Memorable images captured by local photographers

The 2013 Chiswick charity calendar which proved so popular with local people earlier this year, is available in several local outlets.

These include St. Michael and All Angels Church shop, (11-5 Mon- Sat, Wed from 1pm), Sam's Bar and Brasserie, (Barley Mow), Fosters’ Bookshop, (183 Chiswick High Road), Chiswick Computers, (349 King Street), Party Plus (4 Acton Lane), Clip Hairdressing, (407 Chiswick High Road), Top Hat Cleaners, (20 Devonshire Road), Christ Church, (Turnham Green, shop 12-4 Tues-Sat, until 2pm Mon), and Lavelli Bakery (61, South Parade).

The cost is £12.00 and the images are printed on very high-quality photographic paper.

Local photographers Ian Wylie and Jon Perry would also be delighted to hear from any other Chiswick shops and businesses who might want to stock some copies, at no cost risk to them. All the proceeds are in aid of St Michael's Organ Fund and Parish Rooms Appeal.

The calendar, which was very well received when it launched last June, would make an ideal Christmas present. The cover image (above) is Jon’s acclaimed photo of the statue of Hogarth and his Dog on Chiswick High Road, opposite Turnham Green Terrace.

Says Ian; "We've had some really positive comments from those who have already bought the calendar and are anxious to make this truly local Chiswick product as widely available as possible in W4. With all profits going to a local charity, the calendar also celebrates a part of the world we are all lucky to live and/or work in. I'd be delighted to hear from any Chiswick shops and other businesses who might want to stock some copies at no cost risk to them."

Printed on high quality photographic paper, it features scenes across W4, including Bedford Park, Chiswick High Road, Strand-on-the-Green, Chiswick House, Turnham Green and Grove Park.

Ian and Jon (who works for Royal Mail), first met twenty years ago when their children were at Belmont Primary School together. Their shared love of photography has resulted in this calendar.

Jon was born in the USA - in the same Hawaii hospital as President Obama - but moved to Britain aged seven and has lived in Chiswick since 1984.

Jon says "I had the very lucky chance to study photography from age 14. I was already hooked on drawing and painting from a very young age."

Ian is a well-known journalist who has lived in Chiswick for thirty years. A former London Editor and TV Editor of the Manchester Evening News/MEN media, he writes for a range of publications. As a specialist tv writer for the past 25 years, he has interviewed hundreds of top stars.

Father Kevin Morris, vicar of St Michael & All Angels, said: “We’re very grateful to Ian and Jon for producing these wonderful images of Chiswick - and kindly donating the profits to our Organ and Parish Rooms Appeal.
