For the first time the NHS brought their health bus to Super Saturday to encourage people to make sensible lifestyle choices and receive free health checks. The police and army also attended.

The event organiser, Kirsten Lonsdale was overwhelmed with the success of the day.
“We had an unbelievable turnout. To have about 8000 people come to a community event on one day and see so many children and adults active was amazing. It is exactly the day we had been hoping for. The feedback has been incredible and just gives me more motivation to ensure the event happens every year’, Kirsten said.

“I really want to thank all of the sports clubs, local businesses and volunteers who made the day such a brilliant success. The event works because the whole community has really embraced it”, Kirsten added.

Beginners wobble on it while more advanced slackliners can do jumps and somersaults. At Super Saturday the feedback was that it improved posture, balance and concentration.

Super Saturday of Sport began as a small children’s event in 2013 to inspire young people to find their sporting passion. It expanded to include adult activities in 2014.
