Donating 'One Good Thing' For Shooting Star Charity

Keira Knightly endorses latest clothing campaign from children's hospice charity

High profile designers and celebrities have shown their support for The One Good Thing Fashion Evening, which took place on Thursday 12 July in aid of Shooting Star Chase Children’s Hospice.

Among the well-known names who have pledged their support by donating an array of wonderful pieces for auction are Keira Knightley, Jimmy Choo, Erdem, Burberry, Alexa Chung, Jasper Conran, Bora Aksu and The Duchess of Cambridge’s favoured designer, Suzannah.

High Street brands who have also donated include; Monsoon and Oasis, along with new fashion label Wonderlust. The exclusive event will mark the launch of an online auction where supporters can bid for the prestigious items on eBay and at the same time donate towards a charity who give invaluable support to thousands of families each year.

The One Good Thing campaign encourages people to donate one fabulous item to their local Shooting Star Chase charity shop, located all over West London and Surrey. Shooting Star Chase shops are known for their high-quality items and generous donations through One Good Thing are a fantastic way to help the charity raise money for the hospice’s vital care service. Keira Knightley, commented; “The work Shooting Star Chase does is extraordinary. If everyone spent just 5 minutes going through their wardrobes to find one pre-loved item to take into their local store the charity would benefit greatly.”

Shooting Star Chase provides support for families across Surrey and 16 London boroughs. From babies to young people up to the age of 21, the charity offers support from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care. This is free of charge to families and available 365 days a year. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, Shooting Star Chase is here to make every moment count. To maintain this level of care it costs £10 million a year, with just 10% of this coming from government funding.

The event’s curator, celebrity stylist Kerry Nixon, comments: “As a stylist, the Shooting Star Chase shops are like a treasure trove to me. This felt like a great way to spread the word and encourage people to donate items that will make a real difference. What started out as a small project has spiralled into a huge event and I’m delighted with the support we have received for what is going to be a fabulous evening.”

The charity’s Area Retail Manager, Ruth Shaw, added: “We’re absolutely thrilled that a member of the local community has dedicated so much time and effort into championing our One Good Thing campaign. The money raised and the publicity achieved will make a huge difference.”

To be held at The Lounge at Twickenham studios, the event will feature live music, guest appearances, a luxury raffle and a Pop-Up shop offering advice from leading stylist Anna Berkeley. Guests will include Kat Shoob, who will be DJ’ing, Aimee Kelly (Netflix and BBC's Wolf Blood, Sket) and Klariza Clayton (Netflix Series Dani's House, Skins).
