Chiswick Boutique and Gift Shop Shook is Closing

Another High Road casualty as quirky shop bids goodbye

The boutique and gift shop, Shook, is to close before Christmas.

The eclectic store, opposite Christ Church on Turnham Green, sold a range of greeting cards, jewellery, bags, and womens’ clothing and was known for its quirky and original products.

The shop is expected to close by Christmas and is currently running a 70% off sale. A member of staff said they were selling off stock over the next few weeks.

The store is yet another casualty of the parade of shops along that stretch of the High Road. The list of businesses to close include Lombok, La Tasca, and Dada. Holland and Barrett has relocated further along the High Road into the premises formerly occupied by Game.

The area is scheduled for development and some traders have privately complained about high rents.

A local campaign group has been formed to keep a watch on intended development of that area.
