Creaky old allotment retreat in W4 wins designer makeover
A garden shed in Chiswick, which was chosen as the UK's "worst and oldest shed", has had a designer makeover.
Kate Wilson's shed in her allotment no longer has a leaking roof and rotting walls, but has been turned into what she describes as "a one-off, priceless piece of art".
Kate was given the shed (below) some years ago by a 94 year old friend but nobody knew when it was built, or who built it. It was in such a delapidated condition that the merest breeze would make the structure shake.
She said, "I am delighted that my shed was chosen as one of the 'UK's worst and oldest sheds' and that it has been given a new lease of life. I look forward to seeing whether someone else can trump me with their own shed!"
The competition was run by Cuprinol, sponsors of the Shed of the Year, who scoured the nation to find the UK's oldest garden retreat. The company commissioned designers Eley Kishimoto to cheer it up by adding their style. They are now running a nationwide competition to find Britain's " saddest" shed and plan another transformation.
On the new design of her shed Kate said, "The new colours from Cuprinol that Eley Kishimoto chose are absolutely terrific - you certainly can't miss it. I can't wait to invite my friends down to my allotment to show it off. The team have transformed what was a dilapidated, worthless shed into a one-off, priceless piece of art."

After finding more than one shed that could do with a make-over, Cuprinol is now opening a nationwide competition searching for the shed most in need of a makeover. The duo will redesign ' the nations saddest shed' using Cuprinol's colourful garden shades range and turn it into something they believe to be the ultimate garden sanctuary.
Mark Eley of Eley Kishimoto said, "I spent many days of my childhood in my grandfather's shed. A shed is a real British institution and it was great to bring in our team to put our own specialised print on this sad shed and add some personality and colour."
The Posy Ivy print, which covers this shed, was originally designed by Eley Kishimoto for their Spring Summer 2012 Collection.
