Cultivate London Launch The Salopian Garden

Kitchen garden and training space in Isleworth opened by the Mayor of Hounslow

Mayor Ajmer Grewal

Hounslow Mayor Ajmer Grewal and her consort, Cllr Pritam Grewal braved the elements to officially open Cultivate London's new training and community space, the Salopian Garden last weekend.

They admired the different areas of the garden dedicated to flowers, fruit, veg and herbs, watched the kids making pizzas in the new cob oven, and then took refuge in the polytunnel where the heritage tomato crop this year has been outstanding. The Salopian Garden was left to the National Trust by a local resident and Cultivate London has received grants from the Postcode Lottery Trust and other bodies to transform the space.

MP Ruth Cadbury also came to check out Hounslow's newest garden, and encourage the apprentices, trainees, volunteers and payback team who have worked so hard to transform the derelict space.
Earlier in the week Cultivate London held a fundraising event, catered by chef Oliver Rowe, which raised £5,000 for the charity.

Groups or individuals wishing to be involved in the Salopian Garden, or to use it for events or teaching sessions are invited to contact the manager, Adrienne Attorp, on adrienne@cultivatelondon.org
