Resurfacing to brighten up shabby area and give parking space outside shops
The area showing the uneven surface outside shops
Residents will have already noticed that the front area and entrance to Bedford Corner has been re-surfaced, an area which had long been shabby.
The concrete was laid this Thursday (12 July) and will take a number of days to fully dry before it can be walked or driven on.
Pauline and John at Griege have asked for their own customers and all visitors to any of the premises on Bedford Corner for just a little patience and to kindly refrain from walking or driving on the new surface until the red & white tape and traffic cones have been removed – hopefully sometime towards the end of next week.
Once completely dry they will be adding some planters to soften the area and will finally have a couple of dedicated Greige customer parking spaces (much needed by the shop given its location off the High Road).
They say: "We would like to thank everyone for their understanding during this time and apologise for any inconvenience, but hope you will all agree the improvement to the area is already immense!"
The hard work was carried out by Wheelers on one of the hottest weeks of the year.
The small section directly in front of the shop and side gates will (hopefully) be re-surfaced too, and this should happen towards the end of August.
The patch has been something of an eyesore for years, with uneven surfaces and potholes, and local businesses have been anxious for it to be upgraded.
