Contractors soon to move onto Bond House site where four people have taken shelter
Homeless sleeping in front of currently disused building
Four homeless people have been sleeping in front of the site of the proposed new HCA private hospital on Chiswick High Road. The contractors are expected to start work on the facility, said to be a cancer hospital, at the end of this month.
Local residents have complained to the company about state of the area around the current disused building and have demanded that it be cleaned up. They also say that there is a large accumulation of leaves and other debris in the front of the grounds of Bond House. They also say the area is full of human waste.
The global healthcare company has taken over the five-storey building at 347-353 Chiswick High Road opposite Halfords. At present the company is attempting to manage the problem by having security guards visit site but but is unable to stop the people accessing the building. It is understood that there was originally one homeless man but there are now two other men and a woman.

The company is planning a full clean to take place next Tuesday and Wednesday (14 and 15 February) and a hoarding will be erected around the property from the following Monday. Contractors are expected to be on site from 27 February.

The 26,000 square foot space is going to be a cancer treatment hospital, according to a report in the Financial Times although HCA have yet to confirm this. The building, Bond House, was formerly home to Universal music and Decca Records and is a five-storey block, with 40 car park spaces to the rear.
According to Hanover Green specialist property consultancy, HCA signed for the entire 26,000 square feet on a 25-year lease with a break option after 15 years. The rent is £47.50 per square foot.
HCA International is based in the UK and operates six top hospitals in central London, the Harley Street Clinic, London Bridge Hospital, The Portland, the Lister, the Princess Grace hospital, and the Wellington Hospital. It also runs a range of outpatient and diagnostic centres at Devonshire Street, Old Broad Street, and the Brentwood Medical Centre in Essex and one at Sevenoaks in Kent. The Chelsea Consulting Rooms is a private consultation facility while Chelsea Outpatient Centre is a diagnostic and treatment centre. There are two others, one in the City of London and another at Canary Wharf.
HCA Inc., also known as Hospital Corporation of America, is the world's largest independent hospital company with a turnover of around $30 billion, 164 hospitals and 106 outpatient centres, serving 14 million patients a year. Its most recent acquisition is the £33m Platinum Medical Centre part of the Wellington Hospital at St John's Wood, north London. The £33m centre is 50,000 square feet spread over seven floors, and has capacity for 70,000 outpatients annually.
