Residents have appealed to Chiswick councillors to intervene
Chiswick residents who have complained about anti-social behaviour in a playground near their homes have won support from local councillors.
Residents of Woodstock Road, which is in the Homefields Ward of Chiswick, have complained for over a year of physical damage to property and abusive behaviour from young adults who use the playground facilities in an adjacent council estate. They say wardens in the Emlyn Gardens Estate have failed to keep a promise to watch the behaviour of the young people.
The playground was built by Hammersmith and Fulham council, and local councillor Gerald Mc Gregor said the playground is closer to the residents on Woodstock Road than to the dwellers of Emlyn Gardens.
According to Cllr Mc Gregor, the local residents have complained to the police and even appealed to the Ombudsman to take action. Following the intervention of local councillors, he said he hopes to see an improvement in the situation.
“Senior London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham councillors have been very responsive in recent weeks and we hope to see action shortly in providing a solution that works for residents in the area. It is a shame that councillors from the Askew ward in Hammersmith have walked away from the problem. Discussions are continuing with both officers and members on site and through channels”
Chiswick Councillors voted unanimously at a recent meeting of the Chiswick Area Forum to support the residents of Woodstock Road which is in the Borough of Hounslow, and Southfield Road in the Borough of Ealing, in achieving a reasonable outcome.
