Paul Vick is involved with the St Albans Church theatre proposal
The Chiswick-based architects for the Sightline Theatre proposal for the St Albans church redevelopment site have been shortlisted for two awards. One is a RIBA award for a studio theatre and ICT in Brentford., and the other is for a private house in the West Country.
Paul Vick, (below) principal of Paul Vick architects, has given evidence in the St Albans Enquiry and is very involved in the project on behalf of the St Albans W4 Community Association.
The first award is the prestigious RIBA London Regional Awards- the first heat of the Stirling Prize, for the design of a student theatre and ICT centre in a Brentford school. The second is a nomination for the International Design and Architecture Awards 2013 for a low energy private house in the West Country.
"This has been an extraordinary start to 2013 for us," comments Paul."We are delighted that the studio theatre and ICT centre has been recognised. It was a challenging architectural brief. A subtle identity was created for the building as well as developing a new building type for public and private enjoyment while working within a very tight budget. This is architecture of engagement, joy, pupil control and ultimately freedom.

"We are so proud to have this achievement recognised by the RIBA.' "The building in the West Country, Beeches, is a low energy house which captures and reflects the nature and power of Dartmoor, using light and elemental materials like copper, basalt and stone to create a tranquil space that is open to the landscape and its views across the valley," he said.
"We enjoy working locally, as well as further afield."
