Old Packhorse Restored To Former Glory

The renovations are nearly finished and all will be revealed on Nov 26

One of Chiswick's landmark buildings will finally be unwrapped, unveiled and back to its former glory on Monday, November 26.

The Old Pack Horse has been undergoing three months of exterior renovations. It has been shrouded in scaffolding and wrapped in cellophane for several weeks.

Christian Evans the OPH manager said; " The stonemasons have worked non-stop and over come many issues with the building. I am really looking forward to letting the residents of Chiswick see it back to its grandeur."

Located on the corner of Acton Lane and Chiswick High Road, the pub was licensed by 1759 as the West Country Packhorse and it became known as the Pack Horse in 1811. It has been owned by Fuller's since 1808 and was rebuilt in 1910.

The refurbishing also enhanced the interior of the pub to appeal to a wider audience, while maintaining the historical features and feel of the building. Business has continued while the renovations were going on.

Christian added; " I really want to bring back the community feel to the OPH and what better place than Chiswick. It has a real sense of spirit and warmth about it. I have lived here for a year and a half now and love the place. I am so glad we have finally got the building and business where we want it to be, hopefully a place that the residents are proud to call their local."

The doors open at 5pm on Monday 26th November when local people will be able to see for themselves the results of the renovation.
