Chiswick's Old Cinema Chosen as 'Inspiring' Shop

Listed in Top 100 shops worldwide chosen by retail CEO's

The Old Cinema on Chiswick High Road has been chosen in the Top 100 of Shops Worldwide in a leading trade publication which looked for outlets that “truly inspire”.

The antiques shop was one of a hundred outlets chosen by CEO’s, ranging, from Glasgow to Gothenberg, Manchester to Mauritius, according to the criteria set by Retail Week Today.

One CEO, Holly Tucker of Notonthehighstreet.com commented:

“This is a beautiful interiors shop full of creative and unique styles – including antique, vintage and retro. Based in a refurbished 1890s cinema, there shopping is a real experience. The only problem I used to have was not having enough time to spend there – luckily, it has just gone online.”

Will Harness of The Old Cinema said the staff were “ delighted and proud” of the listing

" We have a close-knit team, who work very hard for each other, so it is a recognition of their effort."

The shop found out about the listing a few weeks ago from Retail Week. They were nominated and voted for by CEO’s in retail, and it is the first time they have been chosen.

Asked how the shop was continuing to thrive at a time when Chiswick traders were finding the economic downturn a challenge, he commented:

“During the recession we have been fortunate to have a loyal local customer base and have managed to gain new business by constantly refreshing our stock and being open to new ideas.”

The Old Cinema prides itself on being London's only department store devoted to selling antique, vintage, retro, industrial and upcycled furniture. It also sells decorative arts, lighting, jewellery and gifts and supplies interior designers, stylists, trade buyers and the public .
