Traffic Restrictions During National Grid Work

Diversion in Gunnersbury and on A406 until late Dec

Traffic restrictions will be implemented in the Gunnersbury area from this weekend for almost a month while National Grid engineers carry out essential maintenance work to an underground power cable.

The work is taking place at the junction of Princes Avenue and the A406 in Gunnersbury. To enable work to take place the following restrictions will be in place until Saturday 22 December:

  • There will be no access for vehicles from Princes Avenue onto the A406, pedestrian access won’t be affected.
  • Some parking bays will be temporarily suspended along Princes Avenue.
  • Part of the pavement in Princess Avenue will be closed off to public access.

Work is also needed on the footbridge over the A406 at Princes Avenue to keep it open during the project. To allow this work to be done the A406 will be closed between the Chiswick Roundabout and Gunnersbury Lane at the following times:

  • Between 10pm on Saturday 24 November and 5am on 25 November.
  • Between 10pm on 19 December and 5am on 20 December.

Clearly signed diversion routes will be implemented for all road closures and motorists are advised  to expect delays for the duration of this project.

Project Delivery Engineer Andy Whittaker said: “It’s National Grid’s job to connect people to their energy supplies. Our vital work here will help make sure Londoners continue to enjoy safe and reliable electricity supplies in their homes, businesses and community facilities.

“We’ll do all we can to carry out this essential job with as little disruption as possible.”

If anyone has any questions or concerns about the work they can call the project team on 0800 840 2770 or email at info@communityrelations.co.uk.
