Charity will double-up on donations on three dates this week
Microfinance charity, MicroLoan Foundation, is aiming to raise £30,000 this Christmas for impoverished women in Malawi and Zambia with support from a unique money-matching scheme by The Big Give.
Donations made to the charity via The Big Give website will be doubled at no extra cost to the donor if made between 10:00am and 10:30am on the mornings of December 5, 6 and 7 as part of MicroLoan Foundation’s participation in The Big Give Christmas Challenge.

MicroLoan Foundation’s Head of Fundraising, Sara Bowcutt, said: “There’s no easy solution for solving global poverty. But small loans, targeted correctly, and teamed with the correct support and training, can make a massive impact. In so doing, MicroLoan Foundation provides invaluable work towards creating long-term, sustainable change in Sub-Saharan Africa, whose countries make up some of the poorest in the world.
“We’re delighted that The Big Give has elected to support us via their Christmas money-matching initiative. For the 30,000 women we support, 150,000 more individuals are impacted by our work, so one individual’s donation can translate into multiple opportunities to change lives – the women we support, their families, and whole communities. Donating to us via The Big Give means the chance to potentially double the impact and reach of that initial donation, which is phenomenal”.
MicroLoan Foundation enables women to invest in income-generating activities and micro-businesses to support themselves and their dependants. With MicroLoan’s support, for example, 39-year-old mother Dailess was able to establish a tailoring shop, providing essential income to send her four children to school and provide food for the whole family.
