Hounslow Council 'Still Failing' On Litter

Conservatives say figure is above London average

The Conservative Party in Hounslow has accused the Labour-dominated Council of failing to make the borough a cleaner place.

“Labour is still failing to reduce general litter,” accused Councillor Liz Mammatt , Conservative Deputy Group Leader and Councillor for Bedfont.

“The latest figures (Cabinet 9/7/2013, Supplementary Agenda Page 31) show that London’s average for land with unacceptable levels of litter is 5.4% whereas Hounslow’s is 8%.

Even worse, London’s average for land with unacceptable levels of detritus is 6.9% whereas Hounslow’s is 13.0%, a performance classified by the London Councils as “significantly below average.”

Labour is failing to stress the unacceptability of litter and to deliver the promise of “A Clean, Green Borough,” challenged Liz.
