Laura (Lolie) Ware, who spearheaded the attempt to keep the Chiswick Day Centre open, has written an appreciation of Jean; "On Friday the 23rd of November at about one in the afternoon Chiswick lost an inspiration and Joy. Jean Dell was 86 and had been a resident of Chiswick all her life.

"I first met Jean at the Chiswick Day Centre where my mother and Jean went until it closed in Dec 2011. Jean was always cheerful and an absolute pleasure to be around. Anyone who knew Jean admired her strength and determination to her life to the full.  Jean's Christian faith, which she held dear, kept her going through the rough and the fun times. Jean also had a remarkable lucky streak at Bingo and loved Latte's.

"Jean always stood up for what she believed in and this couldn't be seen more than when she joined the fight to keep her day centre open. One of my fondest memories of Jean was when we attended a council meeting at the Civic Centre so Jean could give a speech to try and pursued the council to change their minds about the closure. Many were moved to tears with the way Jean delivered that speech with such passion, resolve and grace we were so proud of her.

"Jean brought so much to our lives;we will never forget her brilliant smile, joyful laugh and determination to live a life full of love and happiness.

"Jean's Funeral will be held at Mortlake Crematorium at 10:40 on the 19th December 2012, we will then hold a celebration gathering at the Crown and Anchor pub from 12:00hrs which will of course include a game of Bingo."

All are welcome.
