Turnham Green Terrace Shops Close

Jads and sports shop to go, new deli to open

The popular newsagent Jads has closed after several years in Turnham Green Terrace. A new deli, Hack & Veldt is set to open on the premises in about six weeks.

The newsagents was well known for its array of local ads in the front window ranging from babysitting and nannies, music teachers, rooms to let, and items for sale, closed after nearly 20 years in Chiswick.

A notice in its window thanked all its customers. Renovations are about to begin to turn the premises into a delicatessan, which has also applied for a licence to serve alcohol. The owner of the deli, Hack & Veldt, Maike Hachfeld, hopes to be open in about six weeks.

The sports shop at the top of Turnham Green Terrace is also closing this weekend (Oct 21st) though it intends to still sell some of its sports shoes in Rift.

The terrace will also see another estate agent join when Hamptons moves into the premises vacated by Mooca coffee shop.
