Hattie wins a rowing outing with Sir Steve Redgrave

Schoolgirl Hattie Dennes struck Gold when she opened her Top Trumps pack. The 10-year-old from Chiswick, won a rowing experience with Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave, a five-times Gold Medal winner.

Hattie won her rowing trip with Sir Steve after finding a winning golden card in a pack of the new ‘Olympic Legends’ Top Trumps.

The once-in-a-lifetime experience took place on the River Thames when Hattie and her sister Flora, accompanied by mum Jessica, went to Eton Dorney where she had a session on the ergo machine before taking to the waters with Sir Steve. The family also had lunch afterwards with the Olympic rower.

Hattie, who goes to school at Ravenscourt Park school and lives with her family off the Chiswick High Road, described the experience as " amazing". She is now determined to take up rowing. Her father is an avid rower and her mother has recently started.

Also taking part in the opportunity to row with Sir Steve were four other schoolchildren from across the UK  – there were five lucky winners of the competition, which was similar to the Roald Dahl book 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' in which the eccentric chocolate factory owner Willy Wonka hides five Golden Tickets in chocolate bars.

Top Trumps first hit the shop shelves in 1977 and 50 million packs have been produced worldwide.
