Turnham Green Retains Green Flag Award

The park is recognised as being clean, safe and welcoming

Turnham Green in Chiswick has retained its Green Flag status. The national award is presented to public and community parks and green spaces which are recognised as being clean, safe and welcoming.

Six of the borough’s parks received the prestigious Green Flag award, with four retaining their status and two new additions this year.

Boston Manor Park, Bedfont Lakes, Turnham Green and Beaversfield Park all retained Green Flag status, with Hanworth Park and Crane Park receiving the accolade for the first time.

Cllr Ajmer Grewal, Hounslow’s cabinet member for leisure and public health, said:

"I’m delighted that six of our parks and open spaces now hold the prestigious Green Flag award – the highest number the borough has ever achieved!

Having well-managed, high-quality green spaces for everyone to enjoy goes a long way towards improving the quality of life for communities, with the added benefit of providing venues for important health and leisure activities.

A lot of work has gone into bringing and maintaining these six parks to this standard, both from our grounds staff but also from the many volunteers and Friends’ groups who have been involved in the management of the sites, and I would like to thank them for their efforts.

I hope that as many people as possible will go out and make the most of our award-winning parks."
