Rev Martine Oborne says churches should lead the way in helping us care for our planet
Churches should lead the way encouraging people to help care for our planet, says Vicar of St Michael's, Elmwood Road, the Rev Martine Oborne.
She also thinks that adults should listen to children, who are often much more tuned into how we can stop being wasteful.
This year, St Michael's is having a Green Harvest Festival service on 23 September at 10am.
They will still be inviting people to bring in fresh fruit and vegetables for those who are housebound, non perishables for the Foodbank, and money for Christian Aid.
But they will also be thinking and talking about of how the community can say No to plastics and other waste. People are invited to wear something green.
"We'll be asking children to tell us what they are doing and how they are trying to re-educate their parents and the older generation about saying No to plastics and other waste. I want them to give their Top Tips about what we should be doing."
"How are we fulfilling God's call to be stewards of this planet? I'd like to see the churches play more of a role in this and leading the way in caring for the environment."
