Gin Night -Talk and Tasting

Chiswick's connections with the history and culture of gin from 1751 to present day

An evening of inspiration and insight from Hogarth specialist, Val Bott, MBE, who chairs the William Hogarth Trust, and guests.

The event takes place at 6.30pm for 7pm, Thursday 4 June at Club Workspace, The Barley Mow Centre, 10 Barley Mow Passage, Chiswick, W4 4PH,

The stark Beer Street and Gin Lane are two prints issued in 1751 by English artist and Chiswick resident, William Hogarth, in support of what would become the Gin Act.

Chiswick's connections with the history and culture of gin from 1751 to present day

Designed to be viewed alongside each other, they depict the evils of the consumption of gin as a contrast to the merits of drinking beer.  Fast forward to 2015, and we find Chiswick is home to Sipsmith, independent distillers of gin, and the Fuller's Brewery, the oldest UK family brewers.

The event is organised by The Chiswick Calendar in association with the EatChiswick Food & Drink Festival,.

To make sure you truly get into the 'spirit' of things, there will be a gin tasting after the panel discussion.

Tickets: £10. Or £5 with an EatChiswick wristband. Tickets to all EatChiswick Food & Drink Festival events are half price for EatChiswick wristband holders.
