Bedfont scheme will be similar to one in Chiswick
A scheme to construct housing for ex-service personnel and their families in Bedfont has been given the go-ahead. The development will be similar to the Stolls development in Burlington Lane, Chiswick.
Local councillor Paul Lynch, and Cllr Liz Mammatt,(Bedfont) said they were both delighted at news of the scheme particularly on the weekend of Remembrance Sunday
The councillors both attended a Council Planning Committee meeting on Thursday ( Nov 8th), where the decision to grant approval was announced.
The houses will be built on the site of the former children’s home on the Staines Road by the Fairholme Estate.
“The site is completely derelict and, as such, it has been the source of a much anti-social behaviour for years. There have been incidents of squatters, drugs, fires, large-scale fly-tipping and even issues regarding the safety of Fairholme’s residents which belongs to the Elizabeth Jane Jones Charity", said Cllr Mammatt.
“Having visited Stoll’s development in Burlington Lane, Chiswick I have been encouraging Stoll to proceed in Bedfont, in everyone’s interest – local residents and war veterans who fully deserve our support.
“Councillor Paul Lynch (Conservative, Chiswick Riverside) and I were both able to express our support at the meeting, not being members of the Committee, so we are delighted that the scheme has been given the go-ahead, coincidentally at the start of Remembrance week-end,” said Liz.
