The Chiswick Flower Market will mark its fifth anniversary this Sunday (7 September), with a full day of festivities planned. Since its launch in 2020, the market has grown into one of London’s most popular monthly events, drawing thousands of visitors and establishing itself as a showcase for British-grown flowers and independent horticultural traders.

To celebrate the milestone, organisers have arranged a programme of live entertainment and interactive activities alongside the usual array of over 50 plant and flower stalls at Old Market Place on Chiswick High Road. The Brass United Social Club will perform throughout the day, joined by a costumed “flower man” walkabout and other street performers. Local artist Sangeeta will lead drop-in art sessions where visitors can paint their own flower market tote bags, with materials available for both children and adults.

Several local businesses are contributing to the celebration with free offerings. At 11am, visitors can enjoy complimentary cake and prosecco at the market’s central stall. Sipsmith will host a free gin tasting, offering samples of its London-distilled spirits.

From 11.30am, readers of ChiswickW4.com newsletter subscribers can claim a free ice cream from Duci, by visiting the flower market bag stall and using the passcode “Wisteria.” Tokens will be distributed while supplies last.

The market, which is run entirely by volunteers, reinvests its surplus income into local greening projects. Over £30,000 has been directed toward public planting schemes and environmental improvements across Chiswick since the market’s inception.

“We aimed to make Chiswick a destination,” said Ollie Saunders, one of the founding organisers. “Five years on, we’ve grown into a thriving hub of community, sustainability, and footfall—with a special vibe on market days”

The anniversary event runs from 9am to 4pm and is free to attend. Organisers expect a strong turnout and advise early arrival for those wishing to take part in timed activities and limited giveaways.
