Westside Youth Club launched Local community association, a global satellite company and Ann Keen team up to help set up youth club for Chiswick housing estates
Activities include snooker, pool, table football and mixing decks. A music and video workshop will begin soon with the intention of encouraging creativity and talent amongst these teenagers. The youth workers are also keen to get involved with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme. The Westside Youth Club – named by the teenagers themselves – is open every Friday from 7.00pm-10.00pm and entrance costs just 50p. Kathleen Healey, Secretary of the Dukes Meadows Community Association, said "The Youth Group provides a venue for young people to socialize and have fun in a safe environment. With Intelsat's support we can now build on this, offering new activities to help them develop skills and confidence." John Stanton, of Intelsat commented, "Intelsat takes its social responsibility very seriously. We are proud to support the Dukes Meadow Youth Project in Chiswick so that more local young people can benefit from the guidance and friendly atmosphere the programme provides. The youth workers and volunteers are clearly having a positive influence in the Dukes Meadow area and the local community." March 1, 2003 |
