Don Williams, known as the "Gentle Giant" of country music, was a highly influential singer and songwriter. His smooth, baritone voice and laid-back melodies helped to define the "outlaw country" sound of the 1970s and 1980s.

Williams' musical influences were varied, but he drew heavily from traditional country music, as well as jazz, pop, and folk. He was particularly influenced by Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Ray Price, and George Jones.

Williams' own music was characterized by its simplicity and honesty. He often wrote about everyday life, love, and loss. His songs were also known for their beautiful melodies and thoughtful lyrics.

He had a profound influence on many other country artists, including Garth Brooks, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, and Alan Jackson. He was also admired by artists from other genres, such as Eric Clapton.
