Theatre at the Tabard in Chiswick will host the world premiere of Possum Trot, a new play by award-winning American playwright Kathy Rucker, from Wednesday 12 to Saturday 29 November.

The production explores the challenges faced by small-town communities, including the pressures of industrial agriculture and climate disruption, through a blend of humour and poignancy.

Leading the cast is Sarah Berger as Maxine, a determined diner owner fighting to preserve her town’s spirit. She is known for her roles in Jeffrey Bernard is Unwell (Apollo Theatre, The Old Vic) and Call The Midwife (BBC).

She is joined by Todd Boyce, who plays Duane, a kind-hearted widower. This is in stark contrast to his portrayal of Canadian serial killer Stephen Reid in Coronation Street, a role that gripped ITV audiences in recent years. His other screen credits also include The Batman and The Crown.

The ensemble includes Dani Arlington as Prudence, Nikolas Salmon as Jeremiah, and Neve Francis as Billie, forming a multi-generational family at the heart of the story. The play is set in Possum Trot, Nebraska, and follows Maxine’s efforts to rally her community amid personal and environmental upheaval.

Performances will take place at Theatre at the Tabard, 2 Bath Road, W4 1LW. Tickets are priced at £22 (£20 concessions) and can be booked via tabard.org.uk.
