Unique Concert Being Held To Mark The Armistice Centenary
'I Knew a Simple Soldier Boy' being performed in Grove Park
On Sunday November 11 at St Paul’s Church, Grove Park, Chiswick, the local community are mounting a unique concert to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice.
Drawing on the personal reminiscences of ordinary people and contemporary soldiers' songs and music; it promises to be a poignant and uplifting evening.
Popular actor Simon Shepherd is the narrator and the performance is directed by the award-winning West End Director Michael Reed who will be conducting an orchestra of fifteen professionals, including Bea and Ben Chappell.
A large choir and children from the Unicorn school in Kew are among the hundred performers that will be involved, on a specially built stage. There will be a number of guest solos – including the soaring soprano voices of Andee-Louise Hypolite and Rebecca Gresson.
With all performers in Edwardian dress, lighting by experienced theatrical designer Andrew Voller, plus film and images on a huge screen, it looks set to be an immersive and emotional experience.
‘I Knew a Simple Soldier Boy’ is a line taken from a poem by Siegfried Sassoon.

This is a charity event, and all the profits will be shared between the Royal British Legion and St Paul’s.
