St Nicholas Church in Chiswick will host an afternoon piano recital on Sunday 17 May, featuring the award-winning Malaysian pianist Bridget Yee, whose international career has been marked by performances of striking imagination and emotional depth. The concert begins at 3pm in the church on Church Street, offering audiences the chance to hear a rising star in an intimate riverside setting.

Yee, described by the Lucerne Festival as “a pianist who does not fit into any mold,” has already appeared at major venues including Wigmore Hall, Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall, Viborg Musikforening, Ägerihalle and Harris Hall. A BBC Young Musician piano finalist and winner of the Beecham International Piano Competition, she continues to build a reputation across Europe, Asia and the United States. Her recent engagements include her French and German solo debuts, a Swiss recital tour, and a concerto appearance with the National Symphony Orchestra of Malaysia at the Petronas Philharmonic Hall. In 2026 she will make solo debuts at both the Lucerne Festival and the Royal Mile International Piano Series.

Her programme at St Nicholas showcases a wide expressive range, opening with Liszt’s transcription of Wagner’s Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde, followed by Barber’s Excursions Op. 20 No. 1. She then turns to Haydn’s Fantasia in C major before concluding with Liszt’s monumental Piano Sonata in B minor, one of the great landmarks of the Romantic repertoire.

Tickets are £10 on the door, with a reduced price of £5 for students. After the recital, audiences are invited to stay for tea and cake (£5), with all payments taken by cash or card. Proceeds from the event will support emerging young musicians connected with St Nicholas Church.
