Saxophonist Charlie Ashworth-Jerem and pianist Iain Clarke
January 30, 2026
St Nicholas Church in Chiswick hosts an afternoon of musicianship bringing together two rising stars of the UK classical scene: saxophonist Charlie Ashworth-Jerem and pianist Iain Clarke.
The duo will present a richly varied programme spanning lyrical Romantic writing, virtuosic showpieces and contemporary works that showcase the expressive range of the modern saxophone. Audiences can expect everything from Debussy’s shimmering Rhapsodie to the high-energy flair of Jean Matitia’s The Devil’s Rag.
The performance takes place on Sunday 22 February at 3pm.
Ashworth-Jerem, currently completing his Master’s at the Royal College of Music, has already built an impressive profile as a soloist and orchestral musician, performing with ensembles including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the RCM Philharmonic. Clarke, a highly sought-after collaborative pianist, performs regularly with major UK orchestras and has appeared in leading venues from the Barbican to Snape Maltings.
Tickets are £10 at the door (cash or card) or £5 for students.
After the recital, audiences are warmly invited to stay for tea and cake (£5)—a chance to meet the musicians and support the church’s work with emerging young artists. All profits from the event will go directly towards nurturing local musical talent, with additional sponsorship generously provided by Charlotte Fraser.
This promises to be an uplifting and intimate afternoon of live music in one of Chiswick’s most atmospheric riverside settings.
St Nicholas Church is at Church Street, Chiswick, W4 2PJ.
