The Natrio Trumpet Trio will be performing at St. Nicholas Church in Chiswick on Sunday 14 May at 3pm.

Recently formed by three freelance musicians, Will Thomas, Joe Skypala and Nick Budd, who were completing their studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Natrio is an award-winning trumpet trio which specialises in the performance of both modern and natural trumpets. The ensemble was created to showcase the varied repertoire for trumpet trio and was awarded First Prize in the 2022 Musicians’ Company Brass Ensemble Prize for their diverse programme of Donninger, Britten and Gubaidulina.

Its members currently play professionally in orchestras across the UK, including work with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, English National Opera Glyndebourne Touring Opera and Southbank Sinfonia, while also performing regularly with chamber ensembles and as soloists. Two of the current members are fortunate enough to have been artists with the Charlotte Fraser Foundation.

Though relatively little-known, chamber music for three trumpets spans a wealth of musical styles and genres. From the ceremonial fanfares of the 17th Century to the experimental works of the 21st.

Programme to include:

Britten - ‘Fanfare for St Edmundsbury
J.S. Bach - Prelude & Fugue VII
Declan Molloy - World Premiere ‘Homages’
Debussy - ‘Girl with the Flaxen Hair’
Piazzolla - ‘Libertango’

Tickets cost £10 (Students £5) and can be purchased at the door. If you want to stay afterward tea and cake are available for £5.

All profits go to the St Nicholas Church Development Fund for restoration of the outside stonework.

St Nicholas is the earliest of the parish churches of Chiswick. Founded some 1,300 years ago, it was rebuilt in the 1880s, but the tower dates from 1425.

The purpose of the Friends of St Nicholas Church is the repair and maintenance of the building and churchyard, and its fixtures, fittings, and contents. The group raises funds from Friends’ subscriptions, and from events in the church and elsewhere. New members are always welcome. Click here for information on how to join.
