St Nicholas Church is hosting a special summer celebration concert on Sunday 14 August at 3pm.

A Songs and Arias for Voice, Clarinet and Piano will feature soprano Ellie Laugharne with William Slingsby-Duncombe on clarinet and pianist Fiachra Garvey.

Ellie Laugharne is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Birmingham University. She began her career as a Jerwood Young Artist at the Glyndebourne Festival and more recently was an Associate Artist for Opera North and a Company Artist for The Mozartists. Recent operatic engagements include: Susanna Le nozze di Figaro (The Grange Festival); Eliza Doolittle My Fair Lady (The Grange Festival and Gran Teatro del Liceu, Barcelona); Gianetta The Gondoliers, Princess Zara Utopia Limited, Adina L’elisir d’amore, Frasquita Carmen and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance (Scottish Opera)

Sje has recently returned from America having made her debut with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra performing in a fully staged production of Handel’s Radamisto conducted by Richard Egarr and is just completing a successful run of performances at The Grange Festival performing the role of Elsie Maynard in The Yeoman of the Guard. Future engagements include a new production of Tamerlano in which Ellie will sing the role of Asteria (English Touring Opera) and she will also return to English National Opera.

After the concert you can collect your individual tea box containing a selection of sandwiches and cakes to take to the Vicarage Garden.

Tickets cost £20 and must be either prebooked online or purchased after Mass on Sundays.

Concert only tickets for £10 are available on door (cash or card).
