The always popular Christmas pantomime staged by the St. Michael’s Players returns this year with a retelling of a classic fairy tale.
This December, there is a surprise in store for those who think they know the story of Rapunzel.
She has been stuck in a castle tower for eighteen years, imprisoned by a witch’s magical powers, but she’s not the sort of girl to let that defeat her. With the help of her nanny, a charming, cheeky Prince, and an awful lot of hair, she’s going to escape into the big wide world.
Knights and maidens, sword fights and sea-storms, sweeties and singalongs feature in Ben Crocker’s adaptation of this well-known fable.
This is Chris Hulatt’s seventh outing as panto director and he thrives on the experience, “Rapunzel is a hugely enjoyable romp from beginning to end - and it’s very, very funny. Even during rehearsals, I can't stop smiling!”
Nick Lawrence, musical director of the live band, added “It’s great to work with St. Michael’s Players for the sixth time. The cast and band are fantastic. Everyone gives their all. It’s going to be an awesome show!”
This Christmas production runs from 6 - 10 December at 7.45pm with an additional matinee performance on 10 December. Tickets can be bought online and cost £8-£11.
It is being staged at St. Michael’s Centre, Elmwood Road, (W4 3DY).
St. Michael's Players is one of the longest established drama groups in London. It has been staging plays in West London since 1949. In a good year it will present two full length performances in the Spring and the Autumn, a one-act play in the Summer and its famous panto at Christmas.
