Chiswick drama group choose Confusions for their spring production
For their first production of 2017, St Michael’s Players are to perform Alan Ayckbourn’s “Confusions”
Directed by Jane Atkinson this series of four short of one-act plays typifies Ayckbourn’s black comedies of human behaviour. First produced in 1976, the plays are alternately naturalistic, stylised and farcical, but underlying each is the problem of loneliness.
‘Mother Figure’ shows a mother unable to escape from her world of children and baby talk; in The Drinking Companion an absentee husband attempts seduction without success; in Between Mouthfuls, a waiter oversees a fraught dinner encounter; a village fete gets out of hand in Gosforth's Fete. Whether the comedies concern marital conflict, infidelity or motherhood and take place in a restaurant or at a village fete, the characters are familiar and their cries for help instantly recognisable.
It will be performed at St. Michael’s Centre, Elmwood Road, Chiswick W4 3DZ from Wednesday 29 March - Saturday 1 April at 7.45pm.
Tickets are £9.00 & £7.00 and can be purchased from the St Michael’s Players web site.
